Sales Associate

Job Description Summary:
Ensures that all customers are approached promptly and with a genuine interest in fulfilling the customer's needs and desires, with honesty and integrity. Employee has completed the 90 day probationary and evaluation period. May be part- or full-time. Has attended the required number of training classes and passed the required tests, written/oral.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurately accounts for all sales, utilizing proper cash register techniques.
  • Maintains good customer relations.
  • Assists in housekeeping to insure high degree of cleanliness of merchandise and displays.
  • Assists in sales as required and directed.
  • Assists in stocking as required and directed.
  • Completes required reports.
  • Prepares price tags as requested and directed.
  • Ensures all advertised merchandise is displayed and tagged.
  • Assists in decorating displays.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations uses units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
None are required.
